5. MEMBERSHIP: NOVEMBER 15, AND WHY THAT DATE IS IMPORTANT

November 15 is an important membership deadline for your entire Area, because…

Area Competitive Event Allocations. Allocations are the number of competitive spots in each event that an Area can advance from the Area competition to the State Competition.

How This Is Determined. It is a calculation (figured on November 15) that uses the total members in the Area (total of all the chapter members in one Area), the total members in the state, and the number of available spots in each event at SCDC to determine each Area’s SCDC allocations.

All Members Are Counted. Student, advisor, alumni, and professional members count toward the allocations.

The More the Merrier. The higher an Area’s percentage of the State’s total members on November 15, the higher the Area’s State allocations.
