1. UNPAID FLC BALANCES

Attached is the unpaid FLC balances report.

- Payments are now more than 60 days past due, and $25 late fees will be added to invoices.

- Chapters with unpaid balances when registration opens on January 22 will be blocked from registration and housing until their balance is paid. Registration closes on January 30 at 5:00 p.m.

- If an FLC balance is paid after January 29, students from that chapter may compete at SCDC but will not be eligible to compete at ICDC.

2. 30-PAGE WRITTEN EVENT SUBMISSION AND INSTRUCTIONS

The 30-Page Written Event submission deadline is 5:00 p.m. January 9.

- These include:

Business Operations Research (BOR, BMOR, FOR, HTOR, SEOR)

Chapter Team (CSP, CMP, EPP, FLPP, LEP, PRP)

Business Growth Plan (EBG)

Franchise Business Plan (EFB)

Independent Business Plan (EIB)

International Business Plan (IBP)

- Attached are the 30-Page Written Event Submission Instructions.

- These will be posted on teachdeca.org/wa-deca-scdc next week.

- We strongly encourage you to log in tomorrow or this weekend to become familiar with the system and to do a test run on some submissions. They can be deleted if necessary. WA DECA can only assist so many people at a time, so waiting until closer to deadline can be stressful for you.

3. STEVEN ANTHONY RHONE CHAPTER AND INDIVIDUAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

The Rhone family provides annual scholarships to two chapters that demonstrate need ($400 each) and two student DECA members ($750 each for continuing education) in memory of their son Steven Anthony Rhone, Jr., a DECA alum.

Attached are the applications (Chapter Scholarship / Individual Scholarship). These are due (postmarked by) January 22.

- These applications will be also posted on teachdeca.org/wa-deca-scdc next week.

4. SCDC REGISTRATION CHECKLIST

Click here to download the SCDC Registration Checklist to keep you on track to meeting all deadlines.

- This checklist is also posted on teachdeca.org/wa-deca-scdc

5. SCDC HOTEL CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION FORM

Click here to download the Hotel Credit Card Authorization Form for SCDC housing for those of you who will pay your housing with a credit card. Be advised that the Hyatt only accepts credit card authorization forms (no POs), and they must be provided by the deadline.

- Please be sure to check the boxes on the form that indicate if the form is for the student rooms, advisor rooms, and/or the chaperone rooms. This is often overlooked.

- This form is also posted on teachdeca.org/wa-deca-scdc.

How, you ask, can you complete this form now, without knowing which hotel you’ll be in?

- You can over-estimate the amount. The hotel will only charge for the costs you incur.

- The hotel with the highest room rate is $268.89 per room per night (which includes tax). If you use this rate, it will cover the cost of any hotel.

5. 30-PAGE WRITTEN EVENT JUDGES

We are still accepting 30-Page Written Event judge registrations.

- Please encourage your Area conference judges or other reliable professionals to help us out.

- Written judging is completed online, so they can judge any time of day, anywhere!

- Click here to access judge registration.

- After written event judging is completed, we will make the SCDC judge registration available.

6. OVERVIEW AND GUIDELINES FOR STATE COMPETITIVE EVENTS

We can’t stress enough that advisors should review both pages of the attached WA DECA Overview and Guidelines for State Competitive Events.

- This will also be posted on teachdeca.org/wa-deca-scdc next week.

7. ADVISOR OF THE YEAR AND MEMBER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS

Washington DECA annually awards one DECA advisor the honor of Advisor of the Year, based on leadership, service, professionalism, and more. We also select a student Member of the Year who has demonstrated exemplary support of their chapter, community, and school.

Please consider nominating an advisor and student member who should be recognized this year.

Nominations are due January 22.

- Click here to download the Advisor of the Year nomination form.

- You can also access this nomination form and see the list of Advisors of the Year dating back to 2002 at washingtondeca.org/accolades.
