1. SCDC REGISTRATION INSTRUCTION GUIDE AND SCREEN SHOTS

Attached is the SCDC Registration Instruction Guide as well as Registration Screen Shots to help you navigate the registration system and processes.

- The registration guide contains links to all the documents, forms, applications, Principles/PFL allocations, registration site, etc., as well as deadlines and step-by-step instructions.

- These documents will be posted very soon on teachdeca.org/wa-deca-scdc.

2. SCDC REGISTRATION OPENS JANUARY 25 AT 5 A.M. / CLOSES FEBRUARY 2 AT 5 P.M.

As Lori Hairston announced previously, we have pushed the SCDC registration opening date to January 25, as the 30-Page Written Event qualifiers will be announced on or before January 24.

- We encourage you to determine now whether these students can attend SCDC or not, if their written events qualify.

- Advisors will self-select their SCDC hotels again this year.

- Registration will open at 5:00 a.m. to allow advisors with strong hotel preferences to register before school. Please note: You don’t have to finalize/submit registration to secure your hotel rooms. Once you have assigned guests to each room, your rooms are reserved in the system.

- The registration closing date has also been pushed forward. Registration is final, final, final at 5:00 p.m. February 2.

3. AREA WINNER REGISTRATION ENTRIES

Area events are locked in registration to give Area Leaders control over drops and bubblers (the next eligible competitor moving into the place of the dropped competitor).

- If you have any area winners who will not compete at SCDC, contact your Area Leader (or whoever is managing your area’s entries).

- He/she will delete the event from your student (you need to drop the student once that is done).

- He/she will contact the advisor of the next eligible competitor to determine whether the student can compete at SCDC or not, and so on.

- Please be sure to provide a t-shirt size for your area winners in the SCDC registration system. This doesn’t automatically happen when their event is entered or imported.

4. SCHOOL BASED ENTERPRISE (SBE) EVENT AT SCDC / ELIGIBILITY

There has been some confusion about who can attend the SBE event at SCDC, and we apologize for that.

- You can register 1-3 students for the SBE event if your chapter submitted an SBE certification or re-certification project.

- You don’t have to have qualified for ICDC to attend the SBE event at SCDC.

- DECA is hoping to announce the SBE project results in early February.

- Attending the SBE event at SCDC has no bearing on your chapter’s qualification to participate in the SBE academy and competition at ICDC.

5. SENIOR MANAGEMENT ACADEMY (SMA) APPLICATIONS

While there is a limit to how many SMA spots we can award, there is not a limit to the number of applications you can submit.

- Applications are due to Linda Andersen by 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 22.

- Advisors will be notified of the approved participants on January 29.

- Please note: SMA is for high school seniors who did not qualify for SCDC, but they would like to participate in the conference.

6. SCDC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION CLARIFICATION

One eagle-eyed advisor noticed our error on the SCDC Scholarship Application. Applications are due Monday, January 22—not Friday (!!), January 22.

7. INTERNATIONAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT (ICDC) HOTELS

Attached is a document that provides details about the hotels we’ve been assigned to for ICDC.

- Advisors will self-select their hotels when registering for ICDC.

- ICDC registration opens March 5 and closes March 12.

8. MARINERS WA DECA PRO SPORTS CAREER DAY WEBSITE

The Mariners have created a website for our Pro Sports Career Day event as well as the flyer and poster. If advisors/students would like to go online and purchase, that is a new option for you.
