2. COMPETITION TIP #2

Competition Tip #2: Provided with this tip are numerous resources that can be used to help your students study and prepare for the 100-question cluster exam for their event. Remind your students that the test can be up to 50% of their score and it is the ONE part of competition they can control! Tip #2 is located here.

3. WRITTEN and COMPETITION JUDGES

As you recruit judges for your area conferences, please encourage them to also consider judging SCDC Written Events (it’s online, and they can do it from the comfort of their home) and/or to judge competition at SCDC. Thank you!

- The judge registration link is located here. We are currently registering Written Event judges. Written judging takes place January 13-21.

- We will announce when judge registration is open for SCDC competition.

4. MEMBERSHIP STATUS

As of today, we have 11,007 members, which is where we were at the END of the 2016-17 school year! Congratulations! Keep ‘em coming.

- Attached are the membership numbers by area and the current membership balances.

- Payments are submitted to DECA Inc. at 1908 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191, or you can pay online in the membership system (a 3% fee is charged for credit card payments).

- We will be pulling the numbers for recognition and awards at SCDC on February 16.

5. FLC BALANCES DUE

Attached is the list of chapters with outstanding balances for the Fall Leadership Conference.

- On December 29, payments will be 60 days past due.

- Chapters with balances 60 days past due will incur a $25.00 late fee each month until the balance is paid in full.

- Chapters with balances owing when SCDC registration opens on January 22 will be blocked from SCDC registration and housing until their balance is paid in full.

- FLC can be paid with a credit card by calling WA DECA at 206.285.1195. We do not charge a service fee.

6. FORM B

Attached is the Form B checklist showing which advisors still need to submit theirs to WA DECA. I see more of you have initiated the DocuSign process (yay!). Be sure to inform your principal and CTE director that it’s coming, so they know it’s legitimate. Also, if they don’t think they have received it, have them check their junk and clutter folders.
