GENERAL INFORMATION

1. ALUMNI AND PROFESSIONAL MEMBERS: SELF-REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
There is a new membership portal where alumni and professionals can register themselves for membership, affiliate with your chapter, and pay for their membership online. Advisors can register alumni and professional members through your own chapter membership portal, as well.
a. The login for alumni and professionals to register themselves is at https://membership.decaregistration.com/deca/virtuallogin#
b. If advisors register their alumni/professional members, they will set the password, but the alumni/professional member can change that when they log in tohttps://membership.decaregistration.com/deca/virtuallogin#.
c. If the alumni/professional members registers themselves, they will set their own password.
d. The alumni/professional members can pay for their membership online (no credit card fee).

2. W-9 FOR NEW WA DECA ADDRESS
As you know, the Washington DECA office recently relocated from Seattle to Tukwila. Attached is our W-9 form with the new address.
a. Bookkeepers/finance departments need this on file for us, as one of your vendors.
b. Please provide this W-9 to your ASB and CTE bookkeepers.

3. MISSING FORM B STATEMENT OF ASSURANCE AND ADVISOR RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attached is a list showing the advisors who haven’t submitted a Form B to me yet.
a. Please note that if one of the chapter advisors has not submitted Form B when SCDC registration opens, the chapter will be blocked from registering.
b. Click Here to initiate Form B in DocuSign.

4. EPIC PROJECT PLANNING WEBINAR
Today, at 3:00 p.m., Danielle Tuason will be presenting a webinar on Epic Project Planning tools. If you’re planning a big event this spring or have students competing in written events, you won’t want to miss it!

CONFERENCE INFORMATION

1. FLC BALANCES DUE
Attached is a list of the chapters with balances owed to Washington DECA for FLC.
a. Please note that chapters with an unpaid balance when SCDC registration opens will be blocked from registering.
b. If you have questions or believe there is an error, please contact me.

2. CONFERENCE DATES, LOCATIONS, COSTS, AND DEADLINES
Attached is the Conference Dates, Locations, Costs, and Deadlines document that was sent to you earlier this fall, but the FLC information has been removed. This document contains information for both SCDC and ICDC to assist with your planning, budgeting, and school/district approvals.
a. Be sure to get the deadlines on your calendar.
b. Now is a good time to begin the PO and Hotel Credit Card Authorization process.
c. Links are provided in the document to hotel and other sites.

3. 2019 SCDC STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Attached is the 2019 SCDC Student Scholarship Application for $140 scholarships.
a. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
b. Applications must be faxed or emailed to Linda Andersen by 5:00 p.m. January 22, 2019.
c. Advisors will be notified January 25, if their student has been awarded a scholarship.
d. The recipient must mail a formal letter of appreciation to the sponsor, c/o WA DECA, postmarked no later than February 8, 2019.

4. 2019 STEVEN ANTHONY RHONE CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Beginning this year, the Rhone family has decided they would like their scholarship funding to benefit chapters with financial need. Instead of providing two continuing education scholarships to students and two chapter scholarships, they will provide four $500 chapter scholarships.
a. Attached is the Steven Anthony Rhone Chapter Scholarship application.
b. The scholarship application must be completed in an electronic or word-processed format and mailed, e-mailed, or faxed to Washington DECA, postmarked byJanuary 22, 2019.
c. Handwritten applications will not be considered.
d. The four Chapter Scholarship recipients will be announced at SCDC.

5. 10- AND 20-PAGE WRITTEN EVENT PENALTY POINT CHECKLISTS
The 10- and 20-page Written Event Penalty Point Checklists are posted on teachdeca.org in the SCDC Document Library. Changes this year include:
a. Length of paper will no longer determine eligibility. In the past, the paper had to be at least 15 pages long or was disqualified.
b. Chapter Events will no longer be disqualified without demonstrating 50%, or more, member involvement. However, judges will be asked to consider member involvement when judging the project online.
c. Note changes on the Penalty Point Checklist regarding spacing, handwritten corrections, and printing single-sided only.
d. While there is no rule that students cannot single-space their written events, we recommend 1.5-double spacing for readability.

6. WRITTEN JUDGE REGISTRATION LINK
The Written Event judge registration link is open! Please encourage interested colleagues and business contacts to participate in online judging.
