The original ICDC Scholarship matrix included the incorrect mailing address for the letters of appreciation. It was followed by a corrected matrix, with WA DECA’s new address.

- Extended deadline: Postmarked today (3/21/19)

- Please Note: The scholarship matrix provides important information regarding a quality letter of appreciation. These letters go to our sponsors and reflect on Washington DECA and your chapters. Feel free to share this document with your students.

2. DRESS CODE - HATS AT ICDC

Last week’s update, regarding Dress Code at ICDC, neglected to clarify that hats ARE allowed at theme parks and the pool, but not in other situations.

3. ICDC ADMINISTRATOR DAY CANCELLED

DECA has cancelled Administrator Day this year. They encourage administrators to participate as an Executive Mentor or Judge.

Attached are the SCDC registration balances due as of 3/21/19.

- Please follow up with your bookkeepers, as we are nearing 30 days past due.

Washington DECA Membership is at 11,739.

2. MEMBERSHIP BALANCES DUE

We currently have 506 unpaid DECA members totaling $10,175.00 owed.

- Attached is the list of chapters with unpaid membership balances. Please connect with your accounts payable personnel to insure immediate payment.

- Areas will be penalized if a chapter within their Area has any unpaid balances due to DECA Inc. or WA DECA after June 1.

- To view your invoices, log on to the Membership Portal | Go to Invoice History.

- You can pay membership dues online with a credit card, and there are no additional fees charged.

GENERAL

1. FINANCIAL LITERACY WEEK

Governor Jay Inslee has proclaimed March 30-April 6, 2019 as Money Smart Week.

Washington DECA will be providing social media attention and teaching resources via social media throughout Money Smart Week.

2. PIPER JAFFRAY SURVEY

DECA needs your assistance in a very important initiative with one of DECA’s National Advisory Board Partners, Piper Jaffray. Piper Jaffray does market research with teens, and they invite you and your chapter to participate in their bi-annual “Taking Stock with Teens” survey. The survey gauges brand preferences and spending habits among teenagers.

- Click here to access the survey, and forward the link to your students for completion.

- The deadline for completing the survey is March 27with the goal of reaching 8,000 responses--currently at 1,500.

- For your convenience, here is a link to a classroom presentation to engage your students in an independent applied learning activity that illustrates the importance of marketing research. Thank you in advance for your participation.

3. EMERGING LEADER SUMMIT

Western Region is again offering scholarship dollars to assist States and Chapters with costs to attend the Emerging Leader Summit.

- Attached are the registration packet and the scholarship information.

- Application deadline is May 23, 2019.
