1. FLC BALANCES DUE

Attached is a list of chapters with balances due for FLC. Unfortunately, since these are over 60 days past due now, a $25 late fee has been added.

Note. Chapters with balances due on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, when registration opens at 5:00 a.m., will be blocked from registering and selecting housing until payment is received.

2. UNSUBMITTED FORM B’s

Attached is a list (Form B Checklist) of advisors who have not submitted Form B for the year.

DocuSign or Manual. Initiate Form B in DocuSign or use the attached copy to complete this document manually, and send it to [email protected].

Note. If a chapter advisor’s Form B has not been completed and received by WA DECA by Tuesday, January 29, 2019 when registration opens at 5:00 a.m., the chapter will be blocked from registering and selecting housing until the form is received.

3. ADVISOR OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS

Each year, the advisors of Washington DECA nominate one of their peers who has gone above and beyond in supporting Washington DECA and preparing students for area, state, and international competition. The Advisor of the Year is selected based on their commitment to professionalism in managing their chapter, preparing members for competition, encouraging members to apply for scholarships, and for contributing to the greater good of Washington DECA by being involved in an advisor leadership role.

Nomination Form. Attached is the Advisor of the Year Nomination form. Please consider nominating a deserving DECA advisor for this year’s Advisor of the Year Award. Only DECA advisors may nominate a fellow advisor for this award.

Deadline. Nominations are due to Lori Hairston at Washington DECA on or before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Forms may be submitted via email or via fax (206.492.2558).

Announced. The 2018-2019 Advisor of the Year will be awarded during the Opening Session at SCDC.

4. MEMBER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS

Each year, Washington DECA selects a chapter member who has gone above and beyond in support of their DECA chapter, school, and community. Please consider nominating a deserving chapter member for this honor.

Nomination Form. Attached is the Member of the Year nomination form.

Deadline. Please submit nomination forms via email to Danielle Tuason, Washington DECA State Officer Coach, by Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

Announced. The Member of the Year will be recognized at the State Career Development Conference.

5. SCDC DOCUMENT LIBRARY

Be sure to utilize the Document Library on teachdeca.org, under Quick Links, to locate SCDC-related documents and forms.

Reference Documents. Includes calendars, guides, and policy documents.

Annual Forms. Includes Form A Delegate Permission, Release, and Code of Conduct Form and the link to initiate Form B Statement of Assurance and Advisor Rules and Responsibilities in DocuSign.

State Career Development Conference. Includes competition documents, SCDC forms, and scholarship application forms.

7. SCDC SENIOR MANAGEMENT ACADEMY (SMA) APPLICATIONS

The Senior Management Academy (SMA) is an academy held at SCDC for senior DECA members who did not qualify at their area conference but would like the opportunity to be a part of SCDC and participate in this training opportunity.

Application. Attached is the SMA application that is to be completed by the student and the chapter advisor.

Deadline. Fax (206.492.2558) or email the application to Linda Andersen by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

Notification. Advisors will receive a list of the selected participants on Friday, January 25, 2019.

8. SCDC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

Chapter and student scholarships are available!

Student Scholarships. Washington DECA will be awarding $140 SCDC registration scholarships to Washington DECA members attending SCDC 2019 who demonstrate financial need.

Deadline. Completed applications must be submitted to Linda Andersen by email or faxed to 206.492.2558 on or before 5:00 p.m. January 22, 2019.

Notification. Advisors will be notified on Friday, January 25, 2019 if a student has received the scholarship award.

Stephen Anthony Rhone Chapter Scholarships. $500 scholarships will be given to four chapters that can demonstrate the need for financial assistance to attend and compete at the 2019 State Career Development Conference. This scholarship may help offset the costs of registration, lodging, or transportation.

Deadline. The scholarship application must be completed in an electronic or word-processed format and mailed (postmarked by Tuesday, January 22, 2019), emailed to Linda Andersen, or faxed (206.492. 2558). Handwritten applications will not be considered.

Announced. Chapters receiving these scholarships will be recognized at the 2019 State Career Development Conference.

9. 20-PAGE WRITTEN EVENT SUBMISSIONS 

Note. This year all 20-page events must have the Statement of Assurances and Academic Integrity submitted as the first page.
