Good morning and Welcome Back! For those of you that have not met me, my name is Kim Frahm and I provide chapter support for new and developing advisors in Washington DECA.

I hope that you all had a great summer and are excited for a new year in DECA! 

For those of you that are new, you have access to a password protected, dedicated website for DECA Advisors!  Below is how you access the site:

Every Tuesday, you will receive a new advisor e-blast announcing new resources, and news that is trending/important in Washington DECA. In addition, about every 6-8 weeks, you will receive a 1:1 email from chapter support; a check-in on how you are doing and what we can do to support/assist you!

NEW OPEN OFFICE HOURS 
In order to better serve our new advisors on an individual basis, Chapter Support will be offering Open Office Hours on Thursdays at the below times: 

7:30-8:00 a.m.
11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
3:00-3:30 p.m.

NEW RESOURCES ON TEACH DECA 
We are excited to announce several new resources on Teach DECA: 

  • *In Fast Start – Member application for google classroom teachers. Please be sure you MAKE A COPY of the form before editing for your own chapter's use. Data generated will populate into a google sheet which you can then covert to a CSV, remove unnecessary columns and upload directly into the membership portal.  There is also a customizable brochure you can use for club fairs, parent night, etc.  

  • *Unit Two Integrate: Business Operations Research Event [Classroom Activity] - entire lesson plan for incorporating the BOR events into your curriculum. 

  • *Unit Two Integrate: Marketing Information Management [Instructional Area] - entire lesson plan for teaching MIM in preparation for the BOR Events. 

  • *Unit Two Integrate: One-Day Chapter Officer Retreat – agenda and all of the resources for a one-day chapter officer training. 

  • All competitive event guidelines, DECA Guide, Advisor Guidebook, etc. have been uploaded in preparation for the new school year.  The 2019-2020 DECA Inc Membership Promo video is uploaded in Unit One Initiate Students and is also on the What is DECA PowerPoint in Fast Start and Unit One Initiate Excite.

NEW ADVISOR CONFERENCE 
If you are in your 1-3 year as an advisor, please plan on attending the New Advisor Conference taking place in Bellevue on September 17Here is the registration packetPLEASE plan on bringing your WA DECA Advisor Success Guide and your DECA Guide with you.  We look forward to seeing you there! 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT EVENTS  
In preparation for students participating in the new Project Management events (replaced the Chapter Team Events), we have started uploading resources in Teach DECA | Unit Two Integrate Competitive Events for your use. We will continue to add both templates and video resources over the next couple of weeks!  Look for announcements in Tuesday's e-blast for resources that have been added.
